Running Man staffs being water splashed at the end of the show isn’t something to make a fuss about. Fussing over something that is done for a good reason may turn into another causal factor which would later inflict further damage to the show as is.
We are all heartbroken as is. Running Man knows that. The fact that the show is going to end this coming February isn’t something that we expected, not this time. Certainly not.
I believe that given that Running Man have a huge fan base not only in South Korea but worldwide (count me in, as I am from the SE Asian region). It not unusual that we, fans from different cultures and of different insights would voice out contrasting opinions about the incident.
Ji Hyo being water splashed is about luck. We all have seen Kim Hwan draw the lottery.
Her decision to choose Jong Kook has a reason, she wanted to start afresh.
She even said these lines along, “Next year, let’s have good things happen!”
That’s it. Ji Hyo wanted to start afresh. With all the things that happened recently, she wanted to do something. That is why, the cast decided to also water splashed the staffs. It’s not a penalty. Yes, it may somehow came out as an apology as the captions imply:
“We are sorry for not being able to protect you, Running Man Members”,
But for me, it is parallel to making noises in New Year, to wash out the bad energy. And it is not entirely new that the staffs are being splashed by kinds like water and/or flour. We all have seen it before, they are always willing to do that.
If Ji Hyo and the cast wanted us to end the wars by such gesture, then, why we, those who claim to understand what the cast feel are starting to make another by turning this bigger.
To be honest, I am disappointed. I am a fan. I’ll always be.
Let’s us enjoy the remaining weeks of RM with love not with this kind of feeling.
Don’t walk, but run. Be fast to move on.
Again, “We, fans from different cultures and of different insights could voice out contrasting opinions about the incident.” I am just as different as you are.
